THE MAGIC OF FAITH!

*We start off our program by talking about how we can share our FAITH with others. This leads to the question how can we tell who is a person of FAITH. I explain that it takes more than just saying you are a Christian. Too many people claim to be Christian but when we observe the life that they lead we wonder. To demonstrate this I show a rubber ball. I explain that by just looking at the ball we make some assumptions it’s a ball and since it’s rubber it will bounce (Upon saying this, I bounce the ball). But true FAITH is hard to determine just by looking at someone. For example, if I hand you the ball you may find that it is different from what I see (I hand the ball to a student and when they go to bounce it, it just stays on the floor). The bounce is gone...(I take the ball back and it bounces). You see judging someone by their outside appearances and what they say can be deceiving. It’s what on the inside and the actions that we take, day in and day out, that really determine if we are living a Christian life. I then explain to the children that to do this trick I use 2 balls. They look alike on the outside but it’s what’s on the inside that counts...one is a solid rubber ball and the other is hollow. WHAT’S ON THE INSIDE IS WHAT REALLY COUNTS!

*To reinforce the theme of trust we spend some time on forgiveness. I explain that when we do something wrong it’s like a stain on our character. The only way to make things right is to say those magic words...I’M SORRY. When we say those words with a sincere heart we will be forgiven. But trust is essential for this to happen. I then explain that I have an old handkerchief that we will clean using my magical skills. Well, the handkerchief is destroyed mixed-up mutilated but in the end everything works out, our FAITH is rewarded. The routine is delightfully silly, fun and very fast
paced the kids have the times of their lives.

*Finally, we illustrate how precious our FAITH is by playing the LUCKY game. I explain that each of us our very LUCKY because we have been given the gift of FAITH. I explain that 4 people will get the chance to pick a letter of the word lucky. The final letter will be mine. When the envelopes are opened they all have sticks of gum. When I open the letter left for me I find a $20 bill.

To conclude the program I hold up the $20 bill and say, “I Love the LUCKY game”.

But I want each of you to remember this, people get confused by money some people even worship it. This piece of paper is not valuable, (I show my hands empty and slowly fold up the 20 dollar bill) something much more valuable is (the bill visibly changes in my empty hands into a green piece of paper with the word FAITH written on it) your FAITH!!
